Join us for a special afternoon of cross-step waltz workshops with Susan de Guardiola, dance teacher and historian from New Haven.

Cross-step waltz is perfect for those slower tunes -- it's easy to learn, yet endlessly innovative and creative for experienced dancers, with liberal borrowing from swing, tango, wcs, and salsa. For those not familiar, check out this great video (including ganchos at 2:35):
Workshop Schedule
- 11:00-12:00pm: Cross-step Waltz Basics
- 12:15-1:15pm: Tango Inspired Variations, including Ganchos!
- 1:45-2:45pm: New Cross-step Waltz Variations: Whirlwinds
- 3:00-5:00pm: Open dancing dj'ed by Susan
Admission Fees
- Each workshop: $15 / FAC members $13 / Student, Need a Break $10
- Dance: $10 / FAC members $8 / Student, Need a Break $5
- 2 or 3 workshops + dance: $40 / FAC members $34 / Student, Need a Break $25
- The first workshop is ideal for those new to cross-step or looking for a refresher. The other workshops are intended for those with some prior experience or who attended the first workshop.
- No partner is necessary. We will change partners frequently during the workshops (or you can stay with your own partner if you prefer).
- Proof of vax/booster required. Masks welcome but optional. The hall has great ventilation with lots of fresh air.
- To protect the wooden floor and to make turning easier, please change from street shoes to clean shoes, ideally leather-soled, before dancing.
