Car donation program

The Folk Arts Center is a member of transMISSIONs: The Goods News Garage Vehicle Donation Alliance, a fundraising program for nonpprofit organizations. Good News Garage, a program of Lutheran Social Services, acts as FAC’s administrative agent in acquiring and processing used cars, trucks, and vans donated to FAC.

All vehicles donated to FAC through transMISSIONs are evaluated by Good News Garage’s Vehicle Processor to determine the best use for the vehicle. Cars that can be repaired at a reasonable cost to bring them up to a level of safety and reliability appropriate for a new owner will be matched with a family in need. Older vehicles, vehicles with unusually high mileage, certain high-end models, and cars requiring a high cost of repairs will be sold. In either case, FAC benefits financially by receiving a pre-determined percentage of the donated car’s value, and the vehicle donor benefits by receiving a tax deduction. For more information, see FAC’s transMISSIONs pages.

To donate a vehicle to FAC, fill out and submit the online FAC/transMISSIONs Car Donation Form. Someone will contact you within one business day to schedule the pick-up of your vehicle and to answer any questions you may have. If you need a more immediate response, call the vehicle processor at 860-218-2970, extension 3#.

Many of the Folk Arts Center’s members and friends have helped support FAC by car donations in the past. Please spread the word about this program.
