Workshop leaders

David Schonfeld, instrumental music

With his in-depth knowledge of uncommon folk scales, David helps make folk tunes accessible to instrumentalists of all levels. He is a member of several Connecticut dance bands and a veteran leader of music sessions at FAC’s Pinewoods Camp international dance and music week.

Ray Rosenstock, singing

Beginning and experienced vocalists alike sing to the best of their ability as Ray’s gentle, low-key approach gets a good sound from everyone. A former music professor at New Hampshire’s Keene State College, he has directed the singing sessions of FAC’s International Music Club since 1999.

David Skidmore, drumming

A gifted dancer and dance leader, David has a special way with drums as well, especially in those wonderful, uneven Balkan meters. As a member of Zdravets and The Pinewoods Band, he is a master at giving dancers what they need to hear from a band, and at passing on this knowledge to new drummers.

Program coordinator

FAC Program Director Jo Crawford brings to WinterJam both her experience at coordinating events and her expertise at leading folk dances. She offers basic dance instruction as needed in the workshop program and at the Saturday evening party, and she leads a session that integrates music and movement for both musicians and dancers.
