Miamon will be teaching music by ear, and would like to work with intermediate-level players. Registrants should plan to arrive 15 minutes early to set up and tune their instruments.
Miamon Miller, a Los Angeles native now living in Vermont, has over 35 years of experience as a professional musician playing violin and viola on numerous recordings, films, and commercial sound tracks. Miamon served as Music Director and Artistic Director with the Aman Folk Ensemble. He taught Romanian folk violin for more than 15 years at the East European Folklife Center’s summer workshops, and has performed and taught at major folk festivals throughout North America.
Teodor Anastasoaie was trained in Byzantine and Western music techniques in Romania, where he spent five years in the seminary and four at the Theological Institute in Bucharest. He is currently finishing his Master of Theology degree at Holy Cross School of Theology, and conducts the Byzantine choir at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Allston, MA. He has performed Romanian folk songs at FAC’s 2007 Romanian Night and Benefit Bash.
