About Oktoberfest 2008 | Teachers & musicians | Registration | Hulbert Outdoor Center

October 10–13, 2008, Hulbert Outdoor Center, Fairlee, Vermont

Hulbert Outdoor Center

Hulbert Outdoor Center is a scenic country retreat, located in Vermont’s Upper Connecticut River Valley on the shores of Lake Morey. Over 500 acres of young forests, bluffs, and gently rolling countryside set a beautiful stage for the long weekend.

Facilities at Hulbert include a rambling farmhouse with a large dining hall, a dance hall with a new floor, a historic barn, and other, smaller spaces for scheduled and spontaneous events.

Oktoberfest campers lodging at Hulbert are housed in modern warm cabins, each having three or four bedrooms (with two pairs of bunk beds per room) and two full baths. If you wish to pitch a tent at Hulbert, call the FAC office for fees and be prepared for cold temperatures. You may also arrange your own alternative accommodations, while joining us for activities and meals. See the Registration page for more information on options.

Fairlee, VT is 150 miles from Boston, 275 miles from New York City, and 175 miles from Montreal. See the driving directions for details.

Some Hulbert Outdoor Center rules:

  • No pets.
  • Rooms cannot be locked. Please leave your valuables at home or lock them in your car.
  • No smoking in any camp buildings. If you smoke outside, please use “butt cans” and be sensitive to possible dry conditions.

  • No illegal substances.
  • Vermont state law prohibits drinking alcoholic beverages for those under age 21.
  • After the nightly dance parties are over at 11 pm, please respect people’s need to sleep.
  • Participants who bring children are responsible for their children at all times. The camp is near a lake, a main road, and the woods – Do not let children wander away without an appropriate escort.
