Driving directions to Hulbert Outdoor Center

Fairlee, VT is 150 miles from Boston, 275 miles from New York City, and 175 miles from Montreal. Via Interstate 91, Fairlee is 21 miles north of White River Junction, VT. You may download a printable PDF of the driving directions.

From Exit 15 off I-91 in Vermont:

If you were heading north on I-91, turn left onto Lake Morey Road at the end of the Exit 15 ramp; if you were heading south on I-91, turn right at the end of the ramp.

Soon you will pass the street sign for Lake Morey Road (east) on your right, where the road completes its circuit around the lake.

If you continue straight on Lake Morey Road (west) rather than turning right onto Lake Morey Road (east), after 2.7 miles you will see Hulbert Outdoor Center’s Main House straight ahead as the road turns to the right. The driveway into Hulbert’s parking lot is at the right side of the building.

Park either in the unpaved lot or in the grassy field to the right of the lot, being careful not to block Hulbert’s roads.

Follow the paved footpath around to the front of the Main House and enter by the door at the left end of the front porch; the check-in table is directly inside, in the dining hall.

From the Boston area:

Travel time from Boston is approximately 3 hours. Try to leave before 4 pm on Friday, or you may encounter heavy traffic and delays.

Take I-93 North toward Concord, NH. After Manchester, NH, I-93 merges with the Everett Turnpike, a toll road.

Shortly after Hooksett, take the exit for I-89 North toward Lebanon, NH and White River Junction, VT.

Keep right at the fork in the exit lane to get onto the I-89 North ramp; continue on I-89 North for about 62 miles.

Immediately after crossing the Connecticut River into White River Junction, exit onto I-91 North.

Go 21 miles on I-91 North to Exit 15: Route 5/Fairlee/Orford NH.

Follow the Exit 15 northbound directions (above) to Hulbert Outdoor Center.

From western suburbs of Boston (a scenic alternative route):

Take Route 2 West past Fitchburg to Westminster, MA.

Take Exit 24B: Route 140 North/Ashburnham/Winchendon.

In Winchendon, Route 140 North joins Route 12 North. Follow the signs for Route 12 North through downtown Winchendon and into New Hampshire.

In Keene, NH, Route 12 North turns left to merge with Route 101 West for about a mile. Then Route 12 West turns right to merge with Routes 9 and 10 for about 1.5 miles. Stay on Route 12 North.

After Keene, continue on Route 12 North for about 15 miles toward Walpole, NH.
In Walpole, following “To I-91” signs, turn left onto Route 123 to cross the Connecticut River into Vermont.

After a short distance, turn right onto Route 5 North.

After almost a mile, turn left at the “To I-91” sign and go less than a mile to the entrance ramp for I-91 North. (This entrance is at I-91’s Exit 5 in Westminster, VT.)

Go about 63 miles on I-91 North to Exit 15: Route 5/Fairlee/Orford NH.

Follow the Exit 15 northbound directions (above) to Hulbert Outdoor Center.
