Beebe Estate
235 West Foster Street at Cottage Street
Melrose, Massachusetts
FAC’s jam space in the parlor of the historic Beebe Estate mansion is located at 235 West Foster Street near the corner of Cottage Street, three blocks from Main Street in Melrose, MA. Parking is available in the lot behind the house, reached by the driveway at the right of the house, beside the railroad tracks. Enter the house by the back door.
By commuter rail from Boston and northern suburbs:
The MBTA Commuter Rail Haverhill Line leaves Boston from North Station with stops in Malden, Melrose, Wakefield, Reading, Wilmington, Andover, and Lawrence. It is a 5-minute walk to the Beebe Estate from Melrose’s Wyoming Hill Station. Go left on Berwick Street and follow it to the end. Cross West Foster Street and go left. Cross the railroad tracks, then turn right onto the path beside the Beebe Estate driveway at the “Council on Aging” sign.
If you are approaching Melrose on I-93 from points south:
Take Exit 34 and turn right onto South Street at the first intersection, following signs for the Stone Zoo. Continue on South Street as it becomes Pond Street and passes the Zoo on the right. About .4 mile after passing the Zoo’s parking lot, take the next left (this is still Pond Street), between small traffic islands with a blue H hospital sign and a small “Melrose” sign. Go down the hill and straight across the next intersection onto West Wyoming Avenue. Continue for about .6 mile on West Wyoming. After the flashing yellow light on West Wyoming, take the next left onto Cottage Street. Follow Cottage Street to the end, where the Beebe Estate will be directly in front of you. Turn right onto West Foster Street, then immediately left into the Beebe Estate driveway, which has a “Council on Aging” sign.
If you are approaching Melrose on I-93 from points north:
Take Exit 35 and turn left at the end of the ramp. Go under I-93, then turn right onto North Border Road. Continue straight across Route 28, where North Border Road becomes South Street, which then becomes Pond Street. Follow Pond Street past the Stone Zoo on the right. About .4 mile after passing the Zoo’s parking lot, take the next left (this is still Pond Street), between small traffic islands with a blue H hospital sign and a small “Melrose” sign. Go down the hill and straight across the next intersection onto West Wyoming Avenue. Continue for about .6 mile on West Wyoming. If you are approaching Melrose from Route 1:
Take the Essex Street/Melrose exit. Pass the Square One Mall and continue on Essex Street, which becomes Upham Street. About 2 miles past the Mall, at the second traffic light, turn left onto downtown Melrose’s Main Street (there is a KaBloom florist on the near left). Follow Main Street for a short distance. At the next traffic light, turn right onto West Foster Street and go about two blocks. After passing a stop sign and crossing railroad tracks, turn right into the Beebe Estate driveway immediately after the tracks, at the “Council on Aging” sign.
