FAC’s air-conditioned dance space at the Arlington Senior Center is located in a former school building at 27 Maple Street behind Town Hall in Arlington Center, MA. Maple Street is one block from Massachusetts Avenue and across Route 60/Pleasant Street from the church that was the site of Cambridge Folk Orchestra parties. There is a parking lot behind the Senior Center, reached by a driveway on Academy Street. Additional parking is available on the streets nearby. Enter the building by the side door, marked “Arlington Senior Center,” off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street. This door is to the right around the corner of the building from the Maple Street entrance.
If you are coming by public transportation from Harvard Square:
Take the #77 bus for Arlington Heights via Massachusetts Avenue. The bus goes through North Cambridge, crosses Route 16/Alewife Brook Parkway into Arlington, and proceeds through Arlington Center, crossing a major intersection with Route 60 West/Belmont on the left and 2A West/3 North/Winchester on the right. There is a Cambridge Savings Bank on the near left corner of Route 60 (Pleasant Street) and a modern church with a tall white clock tower on the far left corner. Get off at the second stop after this intersection. Cross Mass. Avenue and turn onto Academy Street, which is to the right of Town Hall. Walk one block to Maple Street on the left, where the Arlington Senior Center is on the near left corner. Enter the building by the side door off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street. This door is to the right around the corner of the building from the Maple Street entrance.
If you are coming by public transportation from Lechmere Station:
Take the #80 bus for Arlington Center via Medford Hillside to the end of the line in front of the Regent Theater on Medford Street near Massachusetts Avenue. Cross Medford Street and Mass. Avenue and head west (to the right) through downtown Arlington Center for two blocks, crossing Swan Place and passing Anton’s Cleaners and then Cambridge Savings Bank on the corner of Route 60/Pleasant Street. Cross Pleasant Street at the light and go left. Walk one block on Pleasant Street to Maple Street on the right, after the brick Verizon building. Go up Maple Street toward the end of the block at Academy Street, where the Arlington Senior Center is on the right corner. Enter the building by the side door off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street. This door is to the right around the corner of the building from the Maple Street entrance.
If you are driving from Route 2:
Take Exit 59: Route 60/Arlington Center/Belmont Center and go east toward Arlington Center. You will pass the Irving Street traffic light at .4 mile. After you have gone about .7 mile from Route 2, turn left onto Maple Street, which is three left-side blocks past Irving Street, one block before the traffic lights at Massachusetts Avenue, and directly across from the stone St. John’s Episcopal Church building (the former CFO party location). There is a white church on the near left corner of Maple Street, and a brick Verizon building on the far left corner. Follow Maple Street one block to the end at Academy Street. The Arlington Senior Center is on the right at the corner of Academy Street. The parking lot behind the building is accessed by a driveway on Academy Street. Enter the building by the side door off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street. This door is to the right around the corner of the building from the Maple Street entrance.
If you are approaching Arlington Center on Mystic Street (Routes 60 West/3 South/2A East):
Stay in the middle lane as you approach the intersection with Massachusetts Avenue, where Routes 3 South and 2A East go left. There is a modern church with a tall white clock tower on the far right corner. Stay on Route 60 West, crossing Mass. Avenue at the traffic light. The next right is Maple Street, where there is a brick Verizon building on the near right corner and another white church on the far right corner. Turn right onto Maple Street and follow it one block to the end at Academy Street. The Arlington Senior Center is on the right at the corner of Academy Street. The parking lot behind the building is accessed by a driveway on Academy Street. Enter the building by the side door off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street. This door is to the right around the corner of the building from the Maple Street entrance.
If you are driving east toward Arlington Center on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington:
Shortly after passing Foodmaster on the right, and then passing the traffic light at the Jason and Mill Streets intersection, take the next right onto Academy Street, just before Town Hall. Go one block on Academy Street to Maple Street. The Arlington Senior Center is on the near left corner. The parking lot behind the building is accessed by a driveway on Academy Street. Enter the building by the side door off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street. This door is to the right around the corner of the building from the Maple Street entrance.
Alternatively, after passing Foodmaster and Jason/Mill Streets, continue past Academy Street, Town Hall and Robbins Library and turn right at the next traffic light onto Route 60 West/Belmont (Pleasant Street). The next right is Maple Street, where there is a brick Verizon building on the near right corner and a white church on the far right corner. Turn right onto Maple Street and follow it one block to the end at Academy Street. The Arlington Senior Center is on the right at the corner of Academy Street. If you are driving west toward Arlington Center on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington (Routes 3 North/2A West):
After passing the Arlington Center firehouse on the right and the traffic light for Route 60 East/Medford/Malden, stay in the left lane. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Route 60 West/Belmont. The next right (directly across from the stone St. John’s Episcopal Church building) is Maple Street, where there is a brick Verizon building on the near right corner and a white church on the far right corner. Turn right onto Maple Street and follow it one block to the end at Academy Street. The Arlington Senior Center is on the right at the corner of Academy Street. The parking lot behind the building is accessed by a driveway on Academy Street. Enter the building by the side door off the brick exit driveway on the side farthest from Academy Street.
