BCMFest: the Boston Celtic Music Festival

FAC is pleased to be the fiscal sponsor of the seventh annual Boston Celtic Music Festival, with the theme “Core Traditions.” BCMFest presents music and dance from Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton, and other Celtic traditions, featuring over 100 regionally-based performers and groups in more than thirty acts. Concerts, dance performances, and dance parties are open to all ages. Events are held on four stages in two locations within a block of Harvard Square Station on the Red Line, and at Springstep in Medford Square.

FAC member discounts may be requested only when purchasing tickets at the door. Tickets are sold at Club Passim and Springstep on Friday night, and at First Parish Church on Saturday (Mass. Avenue entrance). Please note that the Friday night concert at Passim usually sells out in advance.

Friday, January 8, 2010
Kickoff Concert, 7–9:15 pm
(doors open at 5:30 pm)

Admission $28 • FAC and Passim members $25
(Advance ticket purchase for this event is recommended)
Featured performers are John McGann and Flynn Cohen, Parcel of Rogues (Calum Pasqua, Dan Houghton, and Susie Petrov), and Bento Boxy.

Boston Urban Ceilidh Dance, 8–10:45 pm (doors open at 7:30 pm)

Cape Breton and Scottish social dancing at Springstep

No experience necessary • Please wear soft-soled shoes

Admission $15 • FAC members $13 • Under age 22 and students with ID $10  
(Tickets for this event are sold at the door only. Admission is FREE with a ticket stub from the Kickoff Concert at Club Passim.)
Featured performers are Tullochgorum, Cape Breton Chicks, and Laura Cortese and the Boston Urban Ceilidh Band.

Saturday, January 9, 2010

DayFest, 10:45 am–7 pm (doors open at 10:15 am)

First Parish Church, 11 am–6:15 pm

Daypass $15 • FAC and Passim members $13 • Under age 5 free

Finale Concert, 8 pm (doors open at 7:30 pm)

at First Parish Church
Performers include the Makem and Spain Brothers, Kimberley Fraser, Barbara McOwen and Anne Hooper, Liam Hart, Sean and John Connor, and other special guests, plus a house band with Emerald Rae, Dan Houghton, and Paddy League.

Admission $20 • FAC and Passim members $18
