Plaiurile Dornelor Ensemble from Vatra Dornei, Romania

The Folk Arts Center of New England was pleased to sponsor the 2019 United States tour of the Plaiurile Dornelor Romanian youth folk dance and music troupe, founded in 1977 at Clubul Copiilor (The Children’s Club) to teach traditional Romanian music, dance, and crafts to children ages 7-18. Winners of many Romanian dance competitions, they have performed at international folk festivals throughout Europe and have also appeared on local and national radio and TV programs. The group’s April 2019 American tour schedule is below. Folk dances from all regions of Romania were presented along with unique folk traditions of Bucovina.
