Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band presents GoldenFest, New York’s largest Balkan music event, featuring ecstatic listening, dancing, and partying with more than forty bands from the Balkans and beyond.

NEFFA (the New England Folk Festival Association) presents the traditional music and dance of New England – contras, squares, and more – at this weekend of dancing and workshops in music, dance, and calling. Featured callers are Lisa Greenleaf and Tony Parkes, with music by the Latter Day Lizards (Dave Langford, Bill Tomczak, Peter Barnes), Old New England (Jane Orzechowski, Deanna Stiles, Bob McQuillen), and, on Friday night, the White Cockade (Vince O'Donnell, Ralph Jones, Sylvia Miskoe, Cal Howard, RP Hale, Alan Chertok). Special this yearRetrospective Dance Session on Saturday afternoon: Marcie Van Cleave and Sylvia Miskoe will lead a celebration of the inspirational and varied life of Marianne Taylor.

Divi Zheni Tenth Anniversary Concert and Dance Party, 7:30 pm

Payson Park Congregational Church parish hall, 365 Belmont Street, Belmont, MA

Admission $15 • Students and seniors $10

Divi Zheni, Boston’s own Balkan Women’s Chorus and Orchestra, celebrates its tenth anniversary with a great evening of dancing, music, song, and food. The evening starts with a short concert by Divi Zheni at 7:30, followed by dancing for all with music by Divi Zheni, Zornitsa, Zdravets, and Pajdashi. Proceeds will help with expenses for Divi Zheni’s trip to Bulgaria next summer.

Boston Harmony World Music Choir presents a concert program of South African songs and dances; traditional sacred and secular music from Caucasus Georgia, Bulgaria, and Corsica; a short mass by Antonio Lotti; and American shape-note and gospel songs.

Mostly Waltz RI presents an afternoon of instruction, waltzes, and occasional other couple dances. It is not necessary to attend with a partner or to have previous dance experience.
